The chemo doc requested another CT scan last friday and the results were discussed today in an appt with the family.
Unfortunately, cancer was seen in the liver and spleen that had not been viewed previously. Angela started chemo today and will be on a 6 week regime including two weeks on chemo and one week off. Right now the schedule is Monday chemo, Tuesday fluids and nutrients and off the rest of the week. The next scan to see how this systemic treatment is impacting the different areas of cancer will be in early March. This chemo is said to be tolerated well. At this point no surgery is being discussed.
The cancer is being called undifferentiated sarcoma - the doctors still believe that the primary site (where the cancer started) was in her uterus. The chemo up until now has been a radiation enhancement versus a systemic dosage. The doctors were focussed on the media stynum (sternum area) with the chemo and radiation in that area. The media stynum tumor has shrunk 25% which is great news...the treatment has been working in this area.
The chemo Angela started today is systemic meant to go after cancer throughout her body and we are all hopeful that it will yield great power in destroying the tumors. This is a stronger chemo than she has been receiving.
There are ups and downs on this journey and today's news was difficult however it is good to have more information about what the cancer is up to so we can go after it agressively. Please send your prayers and strength to Angie during this time. She and Rick are surrounded by family and support right now which is a great gift to them.

Angie,
We love you so much. I KNOW that this new chemo will attack the tumors and get rid of them once and for all. But, if you ever need to vent, rage, cry, all of the above, we're here for you. We love you.
Sarah
Hey Angie!
Well finally they are breakin' out the good stuff! (systemic chemo!)
I'm sure this stronger chemo will do the trick and to kill all those cancer areas.
At least there is no more radiation on your chest, so you can get a break from that and hopefully be able to PIG OUT and eat again! I'll try to call you today on your cell phone while you are hooked up to your "nutrients".
I know this will work! I can just picture the little cancer cells getting kicked/poisoned by this new super strong Chemo. Bring it on!
Love ya lots!!!!
Laura
so great to talk with you Angie, I'm praying!

Angie,
I just forwarded an email to you. It's from Dr. Martin McCarter. I was nosy and found his name online as a sarcoma specialist. His office is at the Univ. of Colorado Denver. He gave me the number to Dr. Anthony Elias, also in Denver, as another sarcoma specialist who knows of all the NEWEST treatments for sarcoma. His number is 720-848-1030. From my online search, there aren't many sarcoma experts in the country, but here are two in Denver.
Love,
Sarah
Angie and Family,
We prayed for you at our bible study last night and I prayed this morning for you!!! Our bible study teacher mentioned that he read about eagles. He learned they have a special way of getting through a storm. They prepare their wings in such a way and wait then when the storm hits this action of stance they have with their wings "mounted up" sends them straight up above the storm.
"Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:31
So, let us put our faith in Him.
" Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strenthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10
"You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance." Psalms 32:7
"Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart rejoices in Him, because we trust in His holy name. let Your lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us, According as we have hoped in You." Psalms 33:20-22
I hope these will encourage you as they do for me.
Love,
Leanna
